How To Lose 15 Pounds
Recently I sent out Prime Physique Magazine Online and asked readers how I can help out in 2010. Many responses came in and this is one question that I liked…so let’s give it a shot.
How do I lose 15 Pounds?
15 pounds may net seem like a lot…or it may seem like the world! For some it will be easy as it is the first 15 and to others it will be hard because it is the last.
So for the sake of time and space, I am going to assume it is the first…or somewhere in the middle.
Starting with the simple math:
There are 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. So to lose 1 pound of fat we must burn 3500 calories MORE than we consume.
15 Pounds = 52,500 Calories
OK, don’t freak out, just take it one step at a time and we’ll get through this;-)
Remember the old saying:
“How do you EAT an ELEPHANT?”

“One bite at a time!”
Same thing here, just break it down into the components.
So to drop 15 Pounds we have to burn an EXTRA 52,500 calories…extra, as in “more than we consume.”
Let’s say that we want to drop a reasonable 1.5 Pounds per week:
1.5LBS * 3500Calories (per pound of fat) = 5250 Calories we need to be in deficit every week to reach our goal.
See, the number just got a lot smaller and more manageable!
Next step is how many calories do we need to be down each day?
5250 Calories/7 Days = 750 Calories Per Day.
You see how easy it just got? Now instead of 52,000 calories, all we have to deal with is 750.
So at 750 calories deficit per day,
5250 Calories per week,
we will have dropped 15 pounds in about 10 weeks!

Just over 2 months and your 15 pounds is gone! How bad is that?
These are reasonable goals and highly attainable with the proper exercise program and diet. So go to it!

Great way to break a 15 lb loss into manageable sized goals Brett! Thanks for the math on that since I’m fairly math-challenged!

Very nice and informative article, let me share my fitness story with dear readers. I used to be very fit and athlete, but with the passage of time I became lazy and developed a habit of eating and sleeping along with no exercise. Which deposited around 25 – 30 Kilo of fat into my stomach, face, legs and all over my body? Everyday when I looked in the mirror I had thought today I will start exercising, which was clearly a false promising to myself, again with the passage of time I realized now enough is enough I have to do something to get rid of this fat. So I stepped on to the thread mill and started running 40 Minutes everyday at 9 Miles per hour. Right after finishing a marathon every day I then take the free weight and start building my shoulders and biceps, chest and etc. 3 Days continues exercise and 2 days rest which continued over the period of 3 months and I have now lost 22 Kilo of fat and I have started to look young and energetic once again. I recommend everyone who is facing the same symptoms of fatness try to get fit, it is really easy and not difficult at all. Thank you
