The time between boot camps and the holidays can be nice and relaxing. I decided to take a trip down to the beach for a few days of rest and relaxation (yes, I am still working…just not with my clients, who I do miss a lot!).
So yesterday I decided to get back on track with the winter diet program, hit the grocery store, and loaded up. Just because it is vacation and holiday time, it does not mean that diet can’t be maintained…just a bit more fun than it will be when I get back home.
Soft shell (whole wheat) tostadas made with lean ground beef and all the trimmings, except for cheese. Loads of lettuce, jalapenos, onions, garlic, spices, and some NF sour cream…and avacado! (OK, it was Guac! But I made it and it was great.)
So this morning was a nice long hike on the beach with Bacchus, some TRX workout, and some kettlebell training (yea, I’m sick and brought a few kettlebells with me to the beach). Feeling great and thought a quick shout to the blog would be good.

Many people decied that the winter and holiday season is a good time to back off of exercise. Why not, then we have a great New Year’s Resolution, right?
So let’s break it down here:
*Stop watching the diet
*Stop exercising
*Put everything off until next year
Hey, sounds great, right?
I could stop right here and you would get my point, but I am going to write a few more lines and keep it short:
Sure, this is a great way to GET FAT, and LOSE ALL YOUR PROGRESS!
Guess what? It only takes a short time to start losing the benefits of your exercise routine! A VERY SHORT TIME!
So get you butt off of the sofa and get your workouts in. Find or make the time.
Just because everyone else is eating cookies and crap all the time, it does not mean that you have an excuse…that is a cop-out!
Stay healthy during the winter and holidays and you will start the new year off great and have a great body to go with the year!

As I am sitting here at my desk, dripping with sweat from my morning workout (yes, I workout too;-) I realize that my week of vacation between Adventure Boot Camps is drawing to a close. (The next camps all start on Monday)
I found myself thinking about the upcoming holiday season, which is basically starting up this weekend with Halloween.
You see this time of year it gets colder, muscles are a bit stiffer, and we search for “comfort foods.”
Unfortunately this also leads to…The Holiday TRAP!
•Lack of exercise
•Increased body fat
•Need for larger pants
•Increased chance of injury
•Possible depression (which is actually huge during the holidays)
•High stress levels
•Bigger gutt or butt
•Loss of results already gained this year
•and a host of other things associated with poor diet and lack of exercise.
Well I am here to tell you that it does not have to be this way!
I have a simple solution:
1.Workout Regularly
2.Maintain your diet whenever possible
Now isn’t that simple?
Just keep up your exercise, which means making time for “number one,” AND sticking to your plan 80-90% of the time.
You CAN survive the Holiday Season and still look HOT and be ahead of the game on January 1st (or 2nd;-) when everyone ELSE is just getting started AGAIN.
Just stick with your fitness and weight loss program OR get started on one TODAY.
Be safe this weekend and watch out for the kids.
Let me know if I can help you with any of your fitness and weight loss goals!

Last weekend was my birthday! What a great time and a great way to experience your true friends, just get older!
We took a trip up to the wine country, like we do every year for my birthday. Guess if someone wanted to find me, that would be an easy way to do it…just look for me in Napa on my birthday (and that week).
While traveling around and having a great time I noticed some things that were great and some that were not so great. I also did a bit of comparison between their businesses and my own. You see I am always thinking about my business…I am a fitness professional, as you know, and my goal is to help as many people as possible to get into great shape and change their lives. In order to do this I have to grow my business, so it is always key on my mind. So while I was watching the business practices of the places we visited, I was able to compare to what I am doing in my business.
I was SHOCKED! So many places just don’t get it! (Some did…and will do great). More on Service In The “New Economy”
Well it is a new year and it is cool and wet here in California…but it sure could be worse!
As I sit here in front of the computer, getting ready to workout, I was thinking of how I could get the exercise that I want/need when it is raining. What I want and need is to hit the hills on the mountain bike…BUT we are in the middle of the largest rainfall in over a year, and it is not showing signs of subsiding. And I’m not into cols and wet while on the bike.
Now the elliptical is great, but not for every day. It is just not intense enough. So I got a rower, Concept 2. It is good, but tough to keep going…especially with a sore back from an injury a month ago. Running in thee rain? Hell no;-) Weights? Well, still not right on the back… More on Keeping up and Dealing With Winter
