Service In The “New Economy”

Last weekend was my birthday! What a great time and a great way to experience your true friends, just get older!

We took a trip up to the wine country, like we do every year for my birthday. Guess if someone wanted to find me, that would be an easy way to do it…just look for me in Napa on my birthday (and that week).

While traveling around and having a great time I noticed some things that were great and some that were not so great. I also did a bit of comparison between their businesses and my own. You see I am always thinking about my business…I am a fitness professional, as you know, and my goal is to help as many people as possible to get into great shape and change their lives. In order to do this I have to grow my business, so it is always key on my mind. So while I was watching the business practices of the places we visited, I was able to compare to what I am doing in my business.

I was SHOCKED! So many places just don’t get it! (Some did…and will do great).

We are in what I have dubbed a “New Economy.” We all know what the economy is like right now…cruddy stock market, fear, anxiety, and a host of other things. The truth is that the stock market dumped, AGAIN. OK, it will recover. The housing market dumped, AGAIN. Ok, it will recover too. Jobs are being lost, and that truly sucks. I will not say that is OK and they will come back, because even though they will, that is no help whatsoever to those people. What we have to do is keep working to rebuild the economy and make it thrive so that those people get their jobs back (or new, better jobs), get the stock market back up, and put some value to our homes.

Right about now you are wondering why the hell I am writing about economic issues when I am supposed to be the fitness guy;-)

Well it is simple! Many businesses are missing the friggin point about how to move this economy ahead…my solution not only helps everything I just listed, but IT ALSO GETS PEOPLE FIT, LEAN, AND HEALTHY!

Think maybe I might have something here? Well here is what I observed that was bad:

A number of establishments I went to had responded to the economy in a simple way. This is a way that I call fear and grasping for straws.

What did they do? They RAISED PRICES! But they did more than that…They CUT THEIR SERVICE DOWN! Can you believe that? I saw this numerous times over the week and was astounded….no, disgusted.

Fear is not the way to fix the fear! Intelligence and sharing is the way! Remember when your mom told you to share? Well she was right!

I have always done my best to give more to my clients, and to give back to the community. When I saw this economy changing, I immediately changed with it…not out of fear, but out of understanding of the situation. I gave even more!

In order for us (all of us) to get past this “New Economy” we must grow. We must do the opposite of what these morons are doing.

What I saw working was the places that gave more for less. It is the only thing that makes sense. AND it is what I have been doing since the beginning of this whole thing!

This is not a time to be cheap! This is a time to grow and help everyone as much as we can. Make things affordable and stimulate the economy.

Prime Physique and San Jose Adventure Boot Camp are providing even more service now than before the economy changed. We are working with even more clients and helping everyone to get fit, and afford a way to do it! Check out the Ultimate Fitness Blueprint Personal Training Program (www.PersonalTrainerSanJose.com) and the San Jose Adventure Boot Camp Program (www.SanJoseBootCamp.com) and you will see what we are doing to work with as many clients as we can in this economy.

If you are in business, remember this: The economy is different and needs people to help it, and to help each other. Don’t cut service and increase prices because people will see what you are made of…and they will not like it, nor will they return. Heck, just last weekend I pulled 2 wineries off the list as well as 2 dining establishments…IN ONE DAY! And the kicker: I use to love all of them!

On the bright side, I added a few great places to my list! There are always stars in the darkness.

I am dedicated to providing my clients with the best service I can give them and put that challenge out to the other businesses in the country. Work with everyone and let’s rebuild this economy!

Exercise should be one of the things that gets you through this “New Economy.” Remember that if you are not healthy you might have a hard time in life.

Now Go Workout!
