Living your dream life OR chasing your distractions?

The dream or the distraction?
A friend of mine recently sent me a great little quote about achieving your dreams that really stood out in my mind as being truly great. I actually printed it and put it on my hutch in the office to re-read and keep focus. It is so good that I want to share it with you.

Now before I do that, let me say 3 things.

First is that the person who shared this information was a great lady named Mina. Mina works for Tony (Anthony) Robbins and helps to build his conferences. She is extremely motivational, very intelligent, and a great all around person who will dump whatever she is doing to help people out. Not a bad person to call a friend, eh?

Second is the person who she quoted: John Leslie Brown. John is a motivational speaker and clearly knows a few things. As I did some research on him I found that one of my mentors is connected with him, along with Mina. So he must be all right too!

Third is that the following information can be applied to your entire life, including (and often especially) your fitness and weight loss success.

OK, so what is the darn quote and why am I putting it here for you…Here you go:

Most people are not living the life of their dreams because they are more committed to their distractions than they are to their destinies

Wow…That was good.

So look at your goals. Are you reaching them?

If not then ask yourself if your distractions are playing a larger part in your life than they should. What worthless garbage are you paying more attention to than the act of reaching your goals? Maybe you need to go re-read my last post and do a double-check of where your time is being wasted?

Here are 2 questions Mina posed:

1. What are 2 things you do consistently that you know are distractions to getting to where you really want to be?

2. What is one thing you can do instead to get you to where you want to go?

Cut and paste this stuff into a Word Document, print it out, and put it on your wall. Use it to keep on track and keep focused.

Remember that both fitness and weight loss are a long term program. You have to not only commit, but continue and keep going. Stopping one, or both will lead you right back to where you started…or worse!

Only you can decide to make the changes in your life.

Now go workout!

Thanks, Brett for sharing the quote and the follow up questions. I am cutting and pasting and printing so I can put them next to my menu planner/diet journal. Making a list of one’s distractions is also a good tip. Seeing them on paper makes it easier to vanquish them!
